There is no irony in true love
There is no hope
There is no wishing you were mine
There is no need to cope
There is no longing to change oneself
Or the dynamic already at hand
There is only tender kisses
And a person with a plan.
There is no irony in true love
No self loathing or despair
There is no “if only he would love me”
And no “if only he would care”
When he’s never shown you a great difference
There is no telling yourself he’s there
You could never trust him anyway
To be exactly as he says
There is no irony in true love
No hope to believe
This time it’ll be different
No swinging together under trees
There are no walks in the park either
And “no baby don’t leave”
There’s no “I’ll be better next time”
And no “baby baby please”
There’s no irony in true love
There is only what is fully shown
Like things that make you smile
And things that give you love jones
There’s hand written notes
a six hour good time on the phone
Hearty laughs and intriguing conversation
With me singing you all the good songs
There is no irony in true love
No happenstance or three
You cannot get this over there
Cause I am one of a kind you see
There will be no mountains here for you to scale
No braving of the rough seas
No games I would play with your heart
Only a world created based in our own reality
There is no irony in true love
There’s only truth to be received
With sincerity as the main course
And kindness up my sleeves
Patience a delectable side
With a bonus side of integrity
Dessert would likely blow your mind
That’s my quirky intentionality
There is no irony in love
I think of what my dreams and prayers could be
I don’t yet know what will come thereof
But I know I can’t make you think of me daily
Nor can I mold myself into a dove
Soft tender & white you see
like the ones you wish to kiss you from above
Plus, you would never write ME poetry
Listening to you read this was just wonderful! Thank you - this is beautiful.
